Ice Bridge spans time, space

20 January 03: We went up to the falls at Niagara Falls to see the Ice Bridge, which finished forming last week with the extremely cold weather we've been having.

I've seen the Ice Bridge in other years, and this year's is far more extensive, stretching from Horseshoe Falls and American Falls downstream to beyond the Rainbow Bridge.

We also stopped at the Power Authority intake tower on the Niagara River a mile or so above the falls. The river is choked with ice, and I've never seen so much ice there, either.

The Ice Bridge is much longer than wide, and the span covers time as well as space. Come spring, the bridge will be no more.
