25 January 02: Cold front and back

Cold front and back

25 January 03: I used to work with a funny guy named Jim, a copy editor disguised as a walking encyclopedia -- and as I said, funny, too.

If you made him angry, you weren't just an SOB; rather, you were a revolving SOB, because no matter how he turned you, he said, you still looked like an SOB.

Which reminds me of the cold fronts that we've been having. Its so cold that the backs are cold, too.

    Drum roll. Cymbal crash.

Seriously, folks, it's been cold as a witch's shovel.

Today we went up to Hamlin Beach State Park on Lake Ontario. The temp was 18 F., and the wind was gusting at 30 mph or so. We stayed out for about 30 minutes and agreed that even though our endorphins were rioting was all that briskness, we would call it a day..

Also took some pix of the canal at Brockport, including some dockware.

If we walk on water in water, using snowshoes, we canexpect to see and hear (!) the winter equivalent to the personal water craft. Snowmobiler goes around and around the loop at Hamlin Beach.

The Reverend strikes a pose on a winterized park bench, with frigid Lake Ontario in the background. It was 18 degrees F., with wind gusting from 20 to 30 mph.

If you had no context for this photo, you might think that it was taken in a tropical place, but indeed it wasn't. The water might be reminiscent of a tropical place, but it was 18 degrees F. ... you know the rest.
